January 2022 Direct Sales Webinar

The traditional automotive sales model is the focus of change and is looking to lower distribution costs and provide more effective omni-channel offers. We see more manufacturers committing to agency, whilst others look to modify the franchise format.  However, new players have come up with new showroom and sales concepts, which are very different to traditional car retailing. As a consequence of Tesla’s success, the direct sales approach is nowadays well-known and other start-ups are following suit.

Further to the presentations made at our Autumn Meeting in October (see HERE), in this webinar we took a more in-depth view on direct sales.  We presented findings from our recent research combining the automotive perspective of direct sales in Europe and elsewhere with non-automotive case studies and academic research.  To help create a holistic picture we showed our detailed modelling which brings together the different aspects and provide insight into the financial implications of this sales model.

The slides shown are available below with speaking notes as a pdf, plus the live video recording.
