February 2024 aftermarket webinar

Independent repairers’ behaviour regarding parts ordering, impact of green parts and regulation

In the current climate - poor economic prospects, increased prices for vehicles, changing powertrain technology - motorists are tending to keep their cars, instead of buying ones. This is good news for the aftermarket, as customers are maintaining their vehicles to 'preserve their mobility asset’. Independent repairers, in particular, benefit from this behaviour, as they usually deal with older vehicles. They are also able to tailor their services to consumers' expectations and available budgets. To do this, they need to ensure that they have a good supply of spare parts of various qualities, and to continue to train and invest to keep up with technological and digital developments in the automotive aftermarket.

This webinar, focused on aftersales, addressed the above points, using information gathered through our 2023 survey amongst independent repairers. Relationships with parts suppliers / multi-brand franchises were highlighted, as well as the repairers’ interest in used and green parts. Opisto, a French company specialising in re-used parts, was our guest speaker and presented its views on the current and future trends in the sector.

The presentation shown is available below as a handout and video recording. Speaking notes will be added shortly.
