+ Guest speakers from leading ‘channel disruptors’ will challenge our thinking, and share their visions of the future
+ The opportunity to review the full outputs from ICDP’s current year of research

The focus of ICDP’s 2016-2017 programme has been around how the sector should respond, restructure, and realign in transforming its sales and aftersales channels to meet the challenges of the future. Throughout our work, we have demonstrated the many and varied pressures for change, and the compelling case for a rapid response in the face of new and intensified competition. As we draw the current programme year to a close, our annual Spring Meeting will consider what form this response should take in terms of future numbers, sizes, and shapes, within restructured networks, alongside the realignment of roles, responsibilities, systems, and people.

The Spring Meeting brings together the full range of topics we have been covering during the current programme year, alongside guest speakers, ample networking opportunities during the day and at dinner, and case studies of solutions we believe are relevant to the future of distribution. It is the highlight of our year, and offers insights and value to everyone – all players in the sector and all functional roles. Reflecting that, for this meeting, we strongly encourage broad participation from programme members to get the best value from the meeting, and the connections we will make between different topics.

Key themes from our work during the year that will be covered include:

+ Customers in a digital world: How sales and aftersales purchase behaviour is changing, including the role of digital technologies – how should the sector respond?
+Future retail: Sales and aftersales channel structures, partnerships, roles, and processes both online and offline
+ Future aftermarket: Service and repair demand trends, and the strategic response of franchised and independent players in aftersales and spare parts.

We are structuring the two days to provide multiple opportunities for discussion and debate around the issues raised, with scheduled break-outs, plus the opportunity to hear from, and question, our guest panel of ‘disruptor’ businesses who are challenging the sector’s status quo.

Is your company involved in any particularly interesting innovations that you would like to share with your fellow members? Do you have new ideas that you would like to test out on the group? We are holding some additional space on the agenda where members can give short (10 minute, and no marketing pitches please!) presentations. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact the Project Office.

The meeting will be held at the D’Ieteren Gallery in Brussels, which houses a wonderful private collection of vehicles tracking the history of D’Ieteren’s long involvement in the retail automotive sector. You will get a unique opportunity to look around the collection, with a guide on hand to answer any questions you might have.

ICDP has secured a special rate for accommodation at Le Châtelain Hotel, a short walk away - please follow the accommodation tab above to find out more.

We look forward to seeing you in Brussels in March!

Transforming sales and aftersales: respond, restructure, realign

DAY 1: TUESDAY 14TH MARCH 2017

2.00 p.m. Registration and coffee

2.30 p.m. Spring Meeting begins

Enhancing the aftermarket experience
We will continue looking at the latest results from our consumer survey, building upon the analysis and thinking presented at our Autumn Meeting to explore the behaviour and expectations of aftersales customers. Do they ‘shop around’, what services do they expect, how can their data be leveraged to improve the service they receive, and how can the aftersales offer be evolved to meet future customer demands?

The dealer of tomorrow
We will draw on our extensive work profiling Europe’s top dealer groups, and on work we have been conducting in China, the USA, and Brazil, to present and debate our vision of the dealer of tomorrow. What will be their role, attributes, and skills? And what challenges will today’s dealers face in making the leap?

• New vehicle supply: where has the sector got to on the journey from push to pull?

• Innovation and channel control in used cars
• Building omni-channel networks
