In late 2009 Martin founded MLT Directions Limited which provides consultancy and advisory services in business performance improvement and business development, with special focus on the international automotive distribution and retail sectors.

Prior to this, after an early period in finance and consultancy, Martin spent the majority of his career as a CEO of various businesses and divisions at Inchcape plc, including two of Inchcape’s main distribution and retail businesses, Toyota Hellas(Greece) and Toyota Belgium. In 2000 he took on a wider regional role and from the beginning of 2006 he was a member of the Inchcape Group Executive Committee with the responsibility of CEO Europe Distribution, Africa (Ethiopia), South America (Chile and Peru) and Russia (retail) ,covering a range of brands in these markets.

Martin has an MA in economics from Cambridge University and he is a qualified Chartered Accountant (FCA).

He became a Senior Advisor of the ICDP in November 2009.
